Mobile assisted language learning make us think that it is related to the mobile phone. Madam Tengku Nazatul Syima, a Phd student introduced us to MALL. She explain that other than Computer assisted language learning (CALL), there are also Mobile assisted language learning (MALL). It can be used as the teaching aid for teachers. The mobility makes it portable and easier to bring anywhere than computer. Hence, it make the teaching and learning process becomes interesting.
Grammar board game is develop by Madam Tengku Nazatul Syima and has won an award. It has the same concept like snake and ladder. We have to roll the dice and answer the question. During playing this game, the students can learn and play at the same time. Some people find that learning is fun when we are using game. The students can recognise the right usage of grammar through this game. Therefore, it will make them become more interested to learn language.
Next, Madam Tengku Nazatul Syima introduce us to the online applications name Throwback game that she is doing now. There are hundreds of questions that has been prepared for the game. However, it do not has an audio which can say aloud the feedback such as “true” or “false”. It is not in the Playstore yet since they are still doing some improvement on the apps. She said that she had to buy the player which cost some money. It can be put into behaviourist category since the game act as tutor to the students.
However, MALL cannot replace teacher’s role in the class. The students need the teacher to explain and guide them in learning language. Therefore, MALL can be other teaching aid to make the learning lesson become more interesting.
